section under section #628. If you
are interested in getting on our list for notices of upcoming auctions, please
fill out an inquiry form. Ask the
cashier to supply one for you. Auction

The
auction is fun and furious. We sell
an item approximately every 37 seconds. We have many serious buyers. Please
be considerate and keep your conversations low or hold your conversations outside. The chatter and noise can confuse or distract someone who is trying to
bid. It is best to clearly indicate
your intention to the auctioneer. If
you are interested in buying an item, do not hesitate to raise your hand or bidder
number high in the air. Sometimes
the person sitting right behind you can be bidding on the same item and you may
think the auctioneer has caught your bid but has not and you lose the bid. Once the item is sold, it is final. The auctioneer will not let you bid against yourself or your spouse (if
recognized).

Boundless
energy and action revolve around the presentation and auction of a wide variety
or merchandise that has been collected from such places as public storage units
seized for payment due and there may also be excess stock from liquidating businesses,
food from local wholesalers, and always there are rare coins and ivory carvings. You will discover furniture and appliances of every description and vintage. Camping gear, electronic equipment, computer equipment, audiovisual teaching
aids, jewelry, and dishes are just a few of the items you may find up for auction. Be prepared to spend some time investigating everything. Once the bidding starts, the auction is fast and the time for inspection
is gone.
-
Our
auctions always start promptly at the scheduled time. The prudent shopper will arrive at least half an hour early. When you enter Alaska Auction, there are smiling clerks waiting to register
you when you give your name, address, & telephone number. After you have been entered into our computer, you will be
given a wooden paddle with a large black number. Be sure to pick up handouts that give information on Alaska Auction policies,
upcoming auctions, and catalogs of merchandise in the current auction.
-
The
auction promptly begins when the auctioneer ascends to his high podium at the
front of the crowd wearing his top hat; he looks every bit the master of ceremonies. That is when the fun begins.
-
The
clerk, who sits at the front with the auctioneer, takes down the description and
the lot number, listening closely so that each item for bid gets identified properly. She follows the rapid-fire bidding and finally adds the winning bidder’s
paddle number and bid into the computer. This information is instantly transmitted to the cashiers so paying for
your merchandise is quick, efficient, and convenient.
